At GEA, we specialize in the study and resolution of complex ecohydraulic problems. To assess the proposed solutions and their interaction with the environment, we solve physical problems related to fluid movement (e.g., passability, fish ethology, hydraulic variability, etc.) using numerical techniques and computation, employing proprietary tools (e.g., Escalas) or open-source codes like OpenFOAM (Bravo-Córdoba et al. 2021; Fuentes-Pérez et al., 2018; 2022). Our main lines of action in this topic are:

  • Hydraulic simulation of fishways
  • Ecohydraulic assessment of passability
  • Study of the effect of hydrological variability on passage
  • Design of new hydraulic structures
  • Study of the interaction of fish fauna with the aquatic environment
