Continuous and automatic monitoring of our natural environment is fundamental for its conservation, even more so when studying dynamic environments such as rivers. However, although information technology has advanced exponentially, due to its cost, its use has been concentrated in urban areas and those of greater social relevance. With the aim of democratizing its use and promoting it throughout the territory, at GEA we have bet on open source technological development, specializing in the design of custom software, sensors, and sensor networks and innovative solutions for the study of the natural environment (Fuentes et al. 2021a, 2021b). In this regard, our main lines of work are:
- Design and development of probes for measuring physico-chemical parameters
- Design and development of sensor networks
- Design and development of technical software
- Design and development of automated on-line management platforms
- Technical advice on remote monitoring and sensor networks
- Study of new technologies for monitoring and automation
